I need help deciding which platform to use?
I have an IMac with 128 megs of Ram at 400 MGh. Don't know what else came with it however.
Also a PC 450 MGh, 160 megs Ram and 13 gig hard drive.
I am starting from scratch and will build from the platform up. Any help/advise re: where to go from here would be greatly appreciated.

Tomato or Toh-mat-oh?

There was a time (A few years back) when MAC was the only way to go for serious musicians who wanted to record from their computers.
These days, by most accounts, the playing field is level, and PC's are equal to MACs in all capabilites when using your computer as a recording unit.
You'll hear pros & cons from both sides, but basically I feel you can pick either one to build up from. So you should pick the one that you are more comfortable with, that you enjoy personally using the most.

I think you should start with the software. By choosing the software and seeing what is available such as plug-in and the like will help you in the descision process. I would love to get a digi 001 and am tossed as to which way to go. Their software will work for either, but a lot of the plug-ins will only work on the mac. They also have a cd mastering package that only works on the mac. Try to look at what you want to accomplish and what you will need to accomplish it. Lots of luck.
