Hi
I was just wondering, since i am thinking of getting me a new computer. Wouldnt it be a bad idea to get an iMac when i only have one room to work and record in.

The way i do it now is, i have a very noise computer in my living room. Then i have dragged some cables through the wall, so that i have screen and mouse etc in my bedroom/studio.

If i were to use an iMac, wouldnt i be forced to have the whole package in my studio, and doesnt the iMac make fan noise.

This could sound like a stupid question, but im actually serious :o

New iMacs are awfully quiet. It's the external drives and burners that clutter the place up, noise wise. I'm running an older flat panel iMac 800 modded a hair but I didn't do anything to quiet it down. Really didn't need to. Sure makes for clean looking studio. Everything packed into one but no PCI or exandability except for RAM. We're saving up for a Quad or heavy Duo but for now this thing purrs. I really love the iMac idea. I've had four and the one I'm typing on is a CRT  My internet slut but sheds viruses like yesterdays election polls! :D

I use a 17" IMac and it's great. It takes up very little space. I can actually hide my external hard drive behind it and the noise level is very low. I never even hear it. I have a Motu Ultralite connected to it via firewire. It really is an ideal solution if you have space issues. I never hear anything external when I record.
