you want to have the files stored on your external hard drive?

1) make sure that it's fast (>7200rpm)
2) make sure it's firewire
3) find the session folder and simply drag and drop!

Pro Tools defaults to saving the audio to the same drive were the session is.. but you can change where the audio is recorded using the Disc Allocation setting in Pro Tools.

I'm very much new to pro tools: But don't you allocate where you want to save it when you create your session. My son thought he was saving on my external firewire hardrive, but when I reopened it, it was just the mixer screen. (I told him he screwed up!) But I briefly laid some midi tracks yesterday, but I elected to save on my ext HD when creating the session. And upon completion it asked me again, would you like to save session..... Does that make sense?

sooooo

when i start a new session change the allocation then or when you finish recording
