Wicked Machine
I’m thinking pretty hard about buying a kit. I’m not a drummer but over the years I’ve played drums quite a bit, and once had a drummer roommate for several years and played drums quite a bit during that time. I’m not going to start asking a bunch of questions because I’m reading through a bunch of old threads to get info. One thing that does come to mind is recording drums and primarily in a “basement” studio that does not have high ceilings. Is it even worth bothering trying to record drums in a room without high ceilings? I’m aware of triggering and Drumagog but reading through many threads I’m hearing about problems people have with those solutions. Some seem to love Drumagog and some don’t, I guess your mileage may vary.

For the record I’m not planning on doing my own drumming for my music. I’m using drum loops like Scott Rockenfield’s and I’m never going to be in his league. But I have worked with a good drummer at times over the years and it would be nice to have a kit in my studio.

One of the things I came across here doing some searches is some of you guys really like Drumagog but some have made comments like it won’t work very well with something like Jazz drumming. Most of my stuff is rock based but even with that if you listen to a drummer like Rockenfield he does a lot of snare ghosting. Will Drumagog handle that well? I’m a big fan of that style of drumming.
