does anyone know what is the easiest mastering software to use? I am somewhat computer challenged.. I don't even record with my computer so I would be ripping the wave from a CD.. I'm basically looking for a limiting/normalizing thing that a monkey could use.. :)

any input is always appreciated..

thanks in advance!

cool..

no budget in mind, but if I could do it for around 300ish that would be cool.. A friend let me borrow his version of cakewalk, so I guess I have to use that to host it.. I was hoping to find something that is kinda 'stand alone' if possible.. I'll check out that link right now.. thanks!

For ease of use, SoundForge5. It'll do most everything.I like their sample rate conversion and dithering. Couple that with Timeworks mastering compressor and mastering EQ directX plug ins and it's pretty powerful.

alright, I'm heading to Sam Ash.. I'm sure I'll leave there in debt..

thanks for the info guys!

I like the timeworks one as well. Waves L1 is good too. Probably too late.

since you are ripping from a Cd, youll be working with 16bit/44.1khz files...id get the cheapest basic editor that supports dx plugins and...hmmm...FIND a copy of some Waves plugins......

Track, you mentioned SF5, they've released SF6 already. Anyone used it yet ? Worth I get it ? or should I stick with 5 ?
Oh yeah... mastering with Wave is great. Just make sure you get BETTER monitor than the ones they used to mix. Otherwise... hmmm... :p

I got Waves Renaissance Complete.. I have no idea how to use it, but it looks cool..

it has a lot of things I'll probably never use..

thanks for the inputs guys! No doubt I'll be bombarding the clinic with songs normalized to the point of distortion..

Yeah Sab! Squash the life outta that crap. Let's see some square waves! Blow away my eardrums! :D

update..

the L-1 Ultra Maximizer plus seems to be a good thing..

a good thing for making a mix loud,

and distorted..

Time to do some reading I guess..

I thought this was going to another thread about proving the existence of time...

The L-2 Ultra Maximizer

when nothing short of redline will do..

I have ruined several mixes so far, but they are rediculously loud..

Normallizing is bad- don't do it. It's like letting your computer set your levels.
