ok, so for the last year or so, i have been recording my guitar tracks through my zoom effects pedal. now, i tired of: "that will do" or "it's ok" ect, ect. I WANT THE BIG SOUND!!! so i was looking at the boss mega distortion pedal in musician's friend for $79.99
or mabye the johnson j-station?

any ideas?

Supoosedly its all in your fingers or something like that.

Les paul, Marshal Stack, SM-57:D

Ok you can substitute for the guitar & amp but make them nice.
I've tried lots of processors and it was always "that will do"
once I got a nice guitar I realized they were killing my sound and sold them.

alot of it is in your fingers, but decent gear helps.....i play alot better when the tone is pleasing......

with that said, J-Station......

Typically, distortion pedals are pure crap.

Go with the j-station.

Get an amp and just crank the gain with an sm-57.......nothing will beat that.

Get a sound that blows you away with a guitar and amp, then mic it w/ an sm57 or some such mic. This way is more costly, but gives the best results.

Damn, if you've got that kind of cash why would you think about the j-station. The POD pro is cool but I agree that for $700 you could get a badassed amp that would eat the POD. This is where I'm getting my next amp. These are great flexible amps for recording with a heavy sound that will strip flesh off your bones. I have the trademark 10 and the direct sounded so good I gave away my POD.

An amp that will strip flesh from you bones:D I Love it:D
