I'm so confused...

Hey guys, if anyone could just kinda clue me in here.

I'm lost in this music stuff somehow. I can make techno and whatnot no problem. But i try to sing.. or record my guitars.. they sound so dry, it gets me down. I try useing effects like reverb or delay and even compressors.. but still no dice.

Any suggestions to get rid of this dryness?

Um, you're posting this in the MP3 clinic, so why not post an MP3 so we can hear what you are talking about. There are several reasons why it doesn't sound right, from mic choice to everything else in your recording chain to your performance. It's hard to narrow it down without hearing it.
