Help me!!!! I'm sick, and I really need to recover!!! It's straining out my vocal chords!!!!! Lately I've been getting sick like every 2 weeks, and it's taking it's tole!!! I can't even do scales!!!!! Help!!! I need some advice on how to get my vocal chords to recover!!! And then some things to do for ensuring they don't become damaged!!!!!!!!

The best thing to do for your vocal cords is to increase your air volume. It will make it easier for you to reach and hold notes which will reduce the strain on your vocal cords. The best way to increase your air volume is to do wind sprints at the track. If you can get by all the excuses not to do it, running will make you healthier and you'll live a longer happier life giving you something new to sing about. :D

But?????

Thanks star, but that doesn't tell me how to recover. Something I need to do before I can sing again. :(

warm wine!!! :o Just heat up some red wine and slowly drink it... has helped me few times.

Once a doctor told me when I had layrngitis.......SHUT UP!!!!!!

The more you talk the less your vocal chords will heal. You can drink things like hot tea, and then thicker, more viscous fluids, but not singing for a few days os the way to heal.

And listen to NYMorningstar, to keep from hurting your vocal chords again, it's best to "strecth" you vocal chords just like you would for playing any sport.
There's nothing more important in singing than breathing. If you can't/don't take a good string breath, you'll have a a weak voice, and you'll probably push harder to sing louder and damage your chaords that way.

AS you can tell I've done all this shit myself and have learned over time....

According to doctors you get a few buddies over to the house and do some "make like a circus seal" exercises with them. Clears up the throat in no time and adds protein to the diet.
