MISTERQCUE said:As you know,I'm constructing a iso-vocal booth. I want ABSOLUTELY DEAD acoustics as I will be using my DSP for 'verbs, chorus etc.. I prev'ly asked if I should carpet this room and was informed that this would not contain the low end bass frequencies.
Question:
Though a wooden foundation seems perferred(sic?),can 1 use
basic plain floor tiles?. Booth is big enuff for small 3 piece band but to be basically used for vocals.
As I am constructing on the cheap, what would overall be the
best,acoustically,(and financially)for the floor/foundation.
Carpet,wood,tiles or another choice?
Thx

Whatever fits your budget, and is hard. Just keep in mind that you want a hard surface and let your mind go wild with possiblities. I never really thought of tiles, it would most likely work. Myself, I'm probably going the way John was talking, about just finishing the concrete. I have to become a pro at finishing the concrete first though, I'll have to do a few test spots in the part of the basement that isn't studio. It's funny, as big as my studio is, and it's pretty big for a basement studio, I still have about 200 square feet of basement for storage.
