Rzzzzz!
There are very few advantages of being out of work.

However, one of them is time.

After about 10 years of having a studio space too cluttered to do anything with. It's starting to come together.

Recently, I threw together a PC out of old parts. Nothing extraordinary of course. Just a 200MHZ with roughly 128MB and a 6 gig drive.

I can't believe that I'm actually going to use this computer for anything, but I'm going to sequence MIDI parts with it (using my old PG Music software). The PC will control my keyboards, sound modules and drum machine and then I'll record the results straight to 2 on my Zoom MRS-4. Once that is done, I'll shred the vocals, guitar and or bass tracks ping ponging and submastering. The results themselves will prolly get uploaded someplace as MP3's.

It floors me that I'm going to be using such cheapo and/or out of date gear to get the job done, but like I said, I'm outta work.

Still, there is something to be said about "roughing it". I'm kinda looking forward to being limited by my gear. Should make me much more creative.

Wish me the very best of luck, ok?

:D

Kinda give you the "pioneer on the prarie" feeling...
An exhilerating catching of the breath, I can't explain but I think I know where you're coming from...

Good luck, and if I come across any discarded possible upgrades I will keep you in mind...

BTW, anything specifically I should keep my eyes open for?
I have a friend (haven't talked in a month or so) who builds computers for his own enjoyment and financial gain (though he doens't need the money, unlike me), I'll see what he may have laying around....

More power to ya, man.

I still have my 8088 midi studio, with MasterTracks PC 1.0. Wonder if I should...

...nah, what was I thinking???:D
