Hi, back again...I thought I read that shorter wires create a superior sound.
welll I have a situation where my desk and sound booth are in my living room and my baby grand piano is in the adjoining dining room...
even if I get some kind of portable rack to put my Avalon compressor/pre on...I am still going to have fairly long wires...
what do you think of long wires..
I have a patch bay and haven't learned how to use it yet..lol :)

Wire length shouldn't matter much, in a house. I believe there are several people here using cables that are pretty long, with no adverse affects.

As long as you run balanced you won't have a problem.

If unbalanced you don't wanna go much over 10 feet.

someone was mentioning monster cables

what about cable width? does it matter if it is not the thickest cables..for pro level recording...I am looking for the finest quality, even though I have a homestudio..my homestudio /

Unless you get interference from an outside source....

Or runs under 50 feet..

It.Just.Doens't.Matter.

thankyou for you answers

I have this book that suggested shorter wires..I don't know..but I understand what you are talking about ...
I have XLR to XLR and that is balanced..they are over ten feet...I hope this should be fine..
and I am using much shorter cables for direct in.
One of cords doesn't work right now...damn...

does anyone have a Kurzweil? my Kurzweil is very new and yet has had two notes become out of wack by becoming too loud..compared to the others.
I had it serviced..now another one is out of wack..and I am keeping it covered...and clean...I don't get it? any suggestions ???
