I get signal/sound from Patchmix. I have Patchmix DSP outputting the right to ASIO 1/2 and left to ASIO 3/4. On the VST inputs box in Cubasis, it says Card L1 and Card L1 copy, which doesn't seem to be what I want. Seeing as this is my friest time using Cubasis, I have no idea what's going on.

Maybe you should start with stating your hardware/comp config so people know what the hell you are taking about.. My crystal ball is in the shop this week

You should send the left to ASIO 1, and the right to ASIO 2. That is your first mistake. They should both be going to one stereo pair, not two seperate ones. Other than that, we need more information. That or tea leaves to read.

Alright, well I plug my guitar in to channel R or L in on my EMU 0404 card. I look on patchmix, and when I strum, I have signal, I can hear it coming out of the soundcard, through my reciever, and out my speakers. The tutorial that comes with patchmix tells me to set outputs on the R and L channels to ASIO, so I just leave it how it is. Then I start up Cubasis, and open the Mono-Stereo 0404 template. According to the tutorial, because of my send in patchmix, I should see the R or L channel input on my VST inputs menu, but all I see is Card L1 and Card L1 copy. I click on the faders in Cubasis and try to get signal, but to no avail.

Make sure cubasis is set to the ASIO driver, you will also need to turn on the monitoring for that channel (looks like a little speaker button)

I think you would go to options/audio setup/audio system setup... and then set the ASIO driver there. Try that at least. I'm no pro with cubase, but I think that is what you are asking about.

Well that was the problem, it was set just to regular ASIO, when it needed to be set to EMU ASIO. Thanks guys. =)
