Are you new to homerecording?

well if so this is for you.

maybe you just found this place and are tempted to to ask all the questions and hope to find all the answers in the next 5 or 10 minutes.

the bottom line is save those questions for later and do some research before you get yourself all confused.

you may feel by asking you are researching well in a way you are but the way you might be going about it may not be as helpfull to you or to those you are asking.

Why is this so?

Well alot of the more experienced people in these forums answer the same stuff day in day out and i am sure they all would like a break even i have been guilty of asking questions in this fashion and i myself came to realise there is a better way.

Go and read about this info at sites like this one and others on the net then go away and plan your questions then ask in a forum that fits the question if your new a good place to start is right here in the newbies forum but do so after you have done some research yourself i will leave a few urls for any who are real new to our site some are closer then you think on the entrance into home recording thats right the way you got in here there is a wealth of info already there for you to look through to start you on the way i hope these links will be of some use anyone else who would like to also contribute please do so you may assist someone out of their confusion in the balance

remember read, reasearch, plan, then ask if you have exhausted all other avenues then ask but before you get to that point start browsing these forums right here you may even find the answer before you ask have fun :)

https://homerecording.com look at our front entrance from top to bottom there are things new people can learn here

prorec.com

now the above links are all good ive learnt heaps at these very places a good place to start is right here then progress as you feel you are getting better information wise remember dont be scared to ask a question but it helps if you check if the same question has already been answered for you within these very forums your reading now ok thats all from me im going back to my reading now :-))

A microphone is only needed if the singer has a quiet voice. Otherwise, just scream into a low impedence cable and it will sound fabulous.
And to answer the 2nd question... that IS how you do it. :)

I'm new here and I know this question has been asked before but..... How do I transfer my vinyl records to CD?

you guys are missing it....

Ask Ed....

He'll tell you where to go !! :D ;)

Of course --- my 2 personal faves...

1) What are the best headphones for mixing?
1a) What are the best headphones for mixing under $100?

2) How come when I master from my Fostex x-55 it doesn't sound like my favorite band's CD? What do I need to master properly? (my budget is $150...)

Well at least you haven't gotten "What headphones should I use to "record" with". :D

2) How come when I master from my Fostex x-55 it doesn't sound like my favorite band's CD?
That's an easy one, cause they didn't use a tube mic stand or a tube pop filter when tracking and they didn't have Tubedude mastering it for them. ;) :D

Not to mention the fact that the signal/current flows faster thru the cable one way than it does the other..........so make sure your connectors are on the right ends.

And the little "in ear" walkman type phones are better cause they block out more outside noise.

Peace............ChrisO :D :D

Will becoming a singer get me a girlfriend.

or

will my girlfriend become a singer ?

The best way to master in my eyes is still the greening of the cd...

Hey!!

Someone actually remembers my "slam thread"...cool.

Don't forget you need to green the monitor woofer cones along with the CD for optimum results...

hehe

... what's a woofer cone???

and how do you get your missus to let you spend $1,000 on recording gear?!?!

... and how come Trebles doesn't use punctuation !?

This post is for the "PROFESSIONALS ONLY".

I am new to this "home recording" type stuff. And I want to make a professional sounding album with my friends. We had a budget of $200, but we spent it on a used analogue Tascam 424 MKII (BTW, what does analogue mean? Is it the same as "digital"???). What else do we need to get? We have $39 more dollars to spend. IMHO, I think that the Tascam 424 and a Radio Shack mic (that we saw in the Trading Times resale publication) could get the job accomplished.

TIA
