hi people
im cole
im 22 and i love music. so much in fact ,that i want to be a studio engineer .
i am a complete novice in the recording feild, ive really only done some 4track stuff over the past couple years and a little studio sessions here and there.then one day it hit me that i wanted to record , mix, and produce music. so i contacted the Recording Workshop in ohio. they seem like they know their stuff, theyre pretty affordable, but their courses are intensive. like 40-60 hours in a week.
well, anyway has anyone here gone there?
if so, did you learn anything? would you be better off self-teaching by reading books and such?
ok ill shut up now

Hey...I'm sure not going to be the one to make your choice for a career, but if you dig music and wanna know how it gets to a recorded medium, this is the place...after reading and listening (and even studying, really) here for a while, you'll either wanna get more into it or you'll blow it off. At least you'll get an idea BEFORE you shell out bucks for tuition. Music business as a career can be a ball-breaker (or not) but the how-tos of making tunes can really expand your awareness of the creative process involved in the fields other than writing or playing...almost all the people here write and play and record, all to various degrees of proficiency...all the people here are helpful also...we do have our little quirks as personalities, and if you can stand it here for a week or so just mainly listening to these forums, you'll see if there's something for you here to get jazzed about. Don't get yer feelings hurt if you screw up...ps the only places our personalities really intrude are 1. the mp3 mixing clinic 2. visitor feedback 3. Dragon's cave....

Oh, and I forgot..you'll notice that to the left it says that I am a Senior Member. The tradition around here is that the first Senior Member to respond to a Newbie's post usually gets twenty dollars sent to him by the Newbie, as a token of respect. All Senior Members should also be addressed as "Yer Highness" also, because they are way above the masses in their wit, intelligence, and knowledge. Thank you....

MAMMA MIA:

HAVE I GOT A GAGGLE OF 20'S COMING!!!

Plus, some salutation corrections.

Hey....I too asked about going to Recording Workshop. It's still posted on "Recording Techniques. Check it out. The replies will really make you think.

My mail must not be getting delivered because none of the $20 bills have arrived yet. Suppose it was going FedX?

And damn, no fancy royal title either!!! :D
