Hi everyone. I wanted to know if those recording schools are any good. I want to be a recording engineer and need to know if those schools are reputable or not. Any help is welcomed.

Check out the Recording Workshop in Chillicothe,Ohio.I think they might have a web-site up by now.A VERY intense program, incredibly informative.
Good luck... Ginzoo

my best friend went to a school called I.A.R(institute of audio reasearch) in nyc. he said the prorgram they have there is real good.... i went to one at the u of hartford in ct...very intense program...but i minored in it ..so i never got the full shabang.where do u live...

The recording schools CAN be very informative, the biggest problem with 'em is how they hype about grads having a better shot getting a job at a recording studion when they're done... I recently read an article in Mix where they've polled a number of LA studios to see what the consensus is on hiring recording schools grads over DIYers.

Overall - studios seem to prefer the green candidates and train them in-house (after the requisite go'fer period) rather than undo some of the (possibly poor) practices they experienced dealing with recording schools grads....

Additionally, I've heard horror stories about the value of the techniques some of these schools provide...

Interesting topic...

I live in Youngstown,Ohio. It would be pretty easy to drive to Chillicothe from here. What do I do? Just call up a studio and ask if they need help or something?
