I'm looking to get a mixer that is really only designed for mixdown. I have several mic pre amps and a couple compressors and EQs that i want to use as my front end, and get a mixer simply for mixdown. Is ther a mixer out there that does not have mic pre-amps? I would rather not spend $$$ on mic pres, just decent routing and EQ. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

One possibility is to get a control surface, like the Mackie control, a decent computer interface, and then mixdown in your computer. You'll end up with full automated mixdown capabilities and a ton of effect flexibility that way.

There are line level mixers but they are usually made for sub mixing keyboards or live monitoring on remote recording gigs. To my knowledge there are no mixdown consoles with faders and busses but no preamps. I'm sure somebody makes something but you would probably end up paying more than a standard mixer.

What is your budget? It's pretty hard to beat mackie, soundcraft or soundtracks when it comes to cheap mixdown consoles.
