personaly, I like big graphic EQs- you could use it for mastering, or to shape the sound of a direct-in bass recording. i wouldnt sell it. Although i find berengher products to be a little noisy. I agree about the sonic maximizer though, better preamps would be more important and i hear that soundcraft mixers have great preamps.

How do you like the Oktava condensers? Im thinking about getting some. what polar pattern do you use when micing overhead drums?

I like the octava They do a better then the CAD mics in the CAD drum kit
they hava a nice quality tone and can really capture the cymbals they also have a high range of (ummm i dont what the word is but) hertz

about the sonic maximizer

so what you guys are saying is if im using the sonic maximizer something is wrong with my sound then whats wrong with correcting it

i know the sonic maximizer probally isnt the best way but im only 15 and i can afford the best parts to get the good sound

and you refer it as a crutch what wrong with using something if you can't capture it very well this just helps i dont anything wrong with it

--and i sorta know what a sonic maximizer does but can some one fully explain so i can make sure were on the same page

thanks

Stop babbling. Why should I reply to you when you can't even be bothered to construct a half-meaningful sentence? Why should it be my responsibility to try to piece together what you're saying?

Sonic maximiser ... anything with a name like that is to be treated with extreme caution. Why are you so desperate to use it? Between those mics and your other stuff you should be able to record a decent sound. Using some kind of EQ shaping for all your tracks is not going to make anything sound better ... believe me. It's like turning up the bass on your stereo up in your bedroom, just because you can. It won't make it sound any better!
