now that about stealing the people from the band is not fair at all:D

listening now...yep..vocals at the start need to come up a bit...actually I don't know jack about mixing, so I better shut up....but yeah...snare sounds sort of "buckety"....the organs at 3:43 are really good...I reckon they should have more of them thru the song and "spread" them a bit wider (organs I mean, not her legs):D ...I agree with the comment from above that it sounds too mono...............................................................but what a fucking great job overall....well done rat

Nice tune! I haven't heard the original or any Uriah Heep but It's a cool song. Big 80's metal sound!! :D

I dig the drums.... are those concert toms?

The bass is kinda hidden a bit and the guitars are just a bit "middy" but overall it's a very nice mix!

I'll have to find the original and give it a listen.

rushfan33, I'm a huge Heep fan (but Slimfast is helping out on that) but I had never heard this one either. I gave up on them when Byron died and Hensley left the band. The drum kit was a Yamaha set with three rack toms only, none of them over sized. These are the C-1000's tight on them that I keep harping on (one on a pair and the other on what would be the floor tom). I think they sound great there but suck on damn near everything else I've used them on. Thanks for the listen.
 
Nice mix, I like the bass a little fatter to cushion the impact on the drums, and vocals a bit louder, guitars were stacked nicely, keys were a bit low. Sounds for the most part like the real "Heepy" thing.
I listened on and old set of Jensen 5A`s and a McIntosh tube amp. I admire your expertise and logic.
 
Nice, big mix.

I thought the vox sounded a tad on the mid-rangey side, and the mix tends to get a bit busy, which I'm sure creates a lot of challenges.

Great stuff overall, though.

Okay, so it's already out the door. So I'm late (not that I could have helped). Just wanted to let you know that I hate you and your "fried" ears. Jesus...I need help.

Really Really Really Nice job. There seems to be this gap (okay, I'll call it a HUGE CHASM) between what some people (you, for instance) produce and what others (me, for one) crank out. I don't think it's equipment...sounds more like years of knowing what the fuck you're doing.

I like it.. one thing I noticed.. when the lead vocal says "stars are falling" (@1:48) it kinda sounds like "Sublime".. hehe just an observation...

Sounds pretty good but evrything needs a little more definition to my ears....not more mush. Also....if I remember correctly Uriah Heep's sound was heavy with the B-3, kinda like early Purple was. I'd like to have evrything seperated just a little bit in the mix, vocals up a tad.....and more B-3......

I would have guess this was Spinal Tap. :D

Well recorded and well played.

Lacking energy at the low end - the kick and bass I thought could be boosted. Vocals could be brought up.

Just my thoughts...

Lt. Bob, this incarnation of Heep didn't have Ken Hensley or David Byron in the band and in the original cut, there was no Hammond at all, just a synth. To me they had that cookie cutter, early 80's generic metel band sound. When they played the original cut for me, it didn't sound like Heep AT ALL. I'm a Demons And Wizards kind of guy myself. Why couldn't they have chosen July Morning or Easy Living???:confused:

nice drums! very roomy sounding and fine playing as well. cymbals were a tad heavy on the ultra high end imo.

sounds great though. i have nothing else to add as your fried ears are much better than my fresh ears i'm sure.

I can't add anything to what has already been covered mix wise.

That drummer is talented. The kit sounds really nice !!

I remember Uriah Heep quite well, this version almost has a Y & T flavor to it. I agree that Easy Living would have been my pick!

A really fine job by musicians and engineer alike !

Well, I have been busy as hell this summer. But it is great to be back to HR.com.

Looks like I am the last to hear this tune. But It sounds awesome. I am digging the guitars. The Mix sounds perfect on my system. Damn I wish I could play guitar like that!
