Practicing good recording technique will go a long way to help you get better sounding recordings.

This means paying great attention to detail on all facets of the signal chain and all aspects of the process from tracking to monitoring.

There are a number of excellent reading resources listed at the bottom of the Articles page on my site....

Key word is.. Practice

Alot of people who are new to recording or new to anything tend to expect great results without the effort normally associated with an accomplishment. You never stop learning until you stop practicing.

Many of the greatest recordists, engineers and producers started their careers amongst 3 track recorders and noisy hand build gear no one was really sure how it operated. Be obsessed with sound and not the gear. Bluebears article is a great free resource where as the search button id often like a treasure hunt.

Don't forget the groove!

If a tune truly ROCKS, great sound quality is nothing more than a bonus.

(and this coming from a mastering guy. What's the world coming to...)
