I'm kinda confused about what a poor teenager, like myself should buy. I'm willing to spend $150-$200 on a condenser mic for my vocals and drums. Possibly recording a trombone and a trumpet. We already own 2 sm57s (for our horns live) and a sm58 (for vocals live). We are looking to start recording in our basement though. What types of condenser mics do you guys recommend for the buck?

So far we've thought about the Nady scm1000 or the AKG 1000. Does anyone know any information about those?

I just would like opinions or ideas of what we could do.

Marshall MXLv67......great for vocals and is definitlely workable as a drum overhead......

Hi,

A condenser mic is going to require phantom power as a rule, so either you already own a mixer that has microphone inputs and phantom-power capability, or you'll need to get one.

You can make good recordings with the mics you already have (the SM57 is surprisingly good on vocals, even though the SM58 is a better performance mic).

People here can help you with better recommendations if you tell them what type of music you'll be recording and what medium you'll be recording to (e.g., cassette tape, minidisc, DAT, hard drive, etc.) and what other equipment (reverbs, etc.) you already have.

v67M is the Mars version and is different from the v67G.....

I was told they were Exactly the same... How are they different Gidge?

but the tpt

But, for recording a trumpet/bone - isn't a dynamic mic the mic o' choice, or are there some techniques you can do with a condensor? I am buying a condensor soon for vocs, but I thought I would still use my Audio Technica ATM41A or the SM57 for horns. Please enlighten me !!!

et Ma, You don't need enlightening -- I was remiss in not suggesting other dynamic mics as well.
