I'm an idiot-Help!

I bought a Delta44 thinking that would be all I would
need to mixdown my 424 to cdr. Now it would appear
that I need additional software to record,before I can
burn a cd. Will someone please explain to me the exact
formula and equipment needs to take my 424 cassette
to cd.(i'm using hp-cd writer9100,plus the Delta44)
Any links,support phone #s,ANY Help much appreciated
 
You need a few more programs.

1 - two-track wav editor. Something like www.goldwave.com or Steinberg Wavelab www.steinberg.net

2 - CD burning software. Adaptec EZ-CD is a common one that usually comes with the burner.

So, you use goldwave to record and edit the wav file, convert it to 44.1 KHz, 16bit if your recording at something other. Must be 16bit 44KHz for audio CD. Then, open this file up in EZ-CD and burn it as an audio file.
 
Emeric, I think he wants to record each separate track from the 4-track and be able to mix them on the computer. Otherwise the Delta 44 would be real overkill for just making stereo copies.

You can use virtually any multitrack recording program. Some low-price possibilities: PowerTracks Pro for $29 from http://www.pgmusic.com/powertracks.htm, n-Track Studio ($39 for 16-bit recording, $59 for 24-bit recording) from http://www.fasoft.com/ ...

I should add the programs I listed are only for a 2 track mix coming out of your four track. If you wanted to get all 4 tracks into your computer for mixing there, than do what AlChuck suggests.
 
Hey thanks you guys. All I was looking for in the first
place was to mixdown to something other than cassette
or md,since I had the computer decided to try that.Little did I know what I was getting myself into. Way over my
head,but I'll keep trying.Downloaded the n-track recorder to record to wave then burn cd from wave.
So the route go's 424 to delta44 mixer to n-track
back to delta44 or straight to burner.Does this make
sense? Thanks again for the info.
 
I don't think you can record an audio CD in realtime; you have to record it to a WAV file first.

With the Delta there you have yourself the guts of a really nice recording system... soon you might want to pitch the 4-track and get a nicer mixer like a small Mackie, and record your tracks straight to the computer...
 
Or you could send that delta over my way, I want to get one when i get some cash :) I'll trade you for a packard bell soundcard AND modem all in 1!!! :) Imagine the posibilities! A 14.4 and a soundcard, what more could you ask for?

You might check out SEKD Samplitude 2496 or "Studio". SEKD no longer deals directly with them because SEKD USA is focusing on their expensive new Sequia. You can get these pretty cheap now and they are top quality WAV/Midi processors that also have a CD burning program at the end. Yor can also burn CD's on the fly if you've got the power.

Thanks Chuck- I got a deal on a Cakewalk HomeStudio
9 and trying to find my way around it . It seems pretty
straight forward so far . I'm also using an internal Hp-
cd writer. Now just need time to learn how to use all this
stuff.
