hey guys...im pretty new to the whole recording deal (3-4 months) and i would like some help on my drum sound. i did record 8 songs with my band but there not exactly pro or anything. ive been experimenting to get a nice good drum sound but i can't seem to. right now im using Adobe Audition 1.5 with a yamaha mg12 mixer going into a ediro firewire interface. the mics however aren't very good. but still i would greatly appreciate help with recording drums to help me get a cleaner well balanced sound. any tips are welcome. it would be great if u could im me on AIM at "rancidpunkcatch2". Thanks guys
Mike

Hi Mike,

Sorry - I don't use AIM.

Please, list your mic's here, even with cheap mic's at least decent recordings can be made.

I would say the main keys to a good drumsound are:

#1. Tuning. Tuning. Tuning
#2. Mic placement.
#3. Mic Selection.
#4. Room Treatment.

Even with crappy mic's, if you have a good sounding kit and the right mic placement, you can still achieve drumsound you can use.

I'm not familiar with the interface you are using. How many tracks can you record at once into the PC?

Mics

I would say that Mics are the most important thing!!
I spent 4 months before getting new mic's.
The difference is amazing! :)
