If You Had All The Money In The World..

if I had all the money in the world I'd buy all the time at the best studio I could find and hire the best engineers and producers of my chosen styles full time and just go in and songwrite/record whatever I wanted whenever I wanted without having to worry about the pains of being a tracking engineer. Then I'd help produce and mix when I wanted something unique while the paid engineers could handle most of the real work.

that's what I'd do with all the money in the world.

the gear would come with the studio so why would I bother building up my own studio from scratch LoL

but if I HAD to build my own studio up more, I'd get a ton of nice optocomps like la2a and la4 (I like 'em). a couple of transformer in/out 1176 stereo models, a rebuilt vintage neve-style board (maybe a ward beck... similar design) and a collection of the nicest mics around.

but really I'd rather just pay someone else to do that stuff if I had the money and then I could focus on being a musician.

Tell me about it. I have since disallowed anyone other than me to touch it.

EDIT: Sadly enough I've never had anyone knock over any of my other microphones, yet this one has been knocked over three times. Yes. Three.
 
Man! ....... that would be the last microphone that I would want to hit the floor.
 
They can be a bit fragile with that plastic head piece.

For sure. But they always seem to work fine. I was lucky enough to find a set of 4 SM57s (I thought they were fakes when I got them, because of the price, but it turns out they are genuine) at a garage sale for $20 for the set. Two were sorta beaten up but the other two were in mint condition. They all sound like they are brand new. Gotta love it :)

Then you must of gotten the older ones that were actually made in the US with good trannys!
 
i like those blues too but i would get a big neve desk and the most expensive mac desktop in the world along with a house and convert it into a studio:)

Probably. But it wouldn't matter to me. $5 bucks per SM57 is as good as it gets.
 
First, you need mic stands that nimrods can't tip over, if you are going to use expensive mics. No one can tip over an On Stage SB96+! (even with a truck- the mic stand will just move). Well, this is me-

B.L.U.E. Bottle X2 with all the caps
Schoeps CM6 with assorted caps in pairs
Ribbons by Royer and RCA (vintage)
Electrovoice RE-20, Sennheiser MD441, and Shure SM7b (2 of each)
Brauner VMA X2
Neumann KM84, U47,U67 (2 of each)
Josephson C715 (X2)
Microtech Gefell UMT800, M295 and M296 (2 of each)
AKG C12 (vintage) X2

There- that's about $80,000 worth of mics, give or take. If I can't record it with those, it isn't making sound.-Richie

Ironically I just bought 4 of those, they should be here in a few days.

I used to have all the money in the world and then I got into trying to record my silly little songs in a home studio and somehow it's all disappeared
 
I would hire a few of the people here to manage my microphone purchasing and installation needs :)

I would say - just make me sound good and throw wheelbarrows full of money at them. And there would be ice cold kegs of beer all around the studio, and 70" plasmas with xbox360 and lots of recording booths. We would produce albums and BBQ all day...

And there would be jet-skis
