If you had $5000 to spend, would it be on Behringer or Nady gear?

I think the Q-ster is trying to help the H/R bruthas and sistas out by pointing out some sub-par gear for which he had the misfortune to plunk down coin.

Taking his advice, I've limited my "B" purchases to a Behringer D.I. Box. It does suck, but I'm only out $35 and it doesn't suck so bad that I can't use it at all. It's like those adapter gizmos I bring to gigs for emergencies. I'll use it in a pinch but prefer cables that are hard wired from end to end.

When I first found this site I didn't own a mixer at all. I oohed and aahed over the miles of neatly arranged knobs and sliders that are displayed at Guitar Satan, not having a CLUE as to the performance/reliability of any of them.

I did my homework. Downloaded all the manuals. Talked to people that actually bought and used the shit I was considering.

Thanks to MrQ (and lots of other advice from peeps here and elsewhere) I didn't pop for the mixer that had the most shit for the lowest price. I saved my dough and went with a machine that did what I needed (16 very clean pres and some nice EQ) and that's gonna have some resale value should I ever need to upgrade. It was a refurb unit but everything still works the same today as the day I got it.

Sweet Baby Jesus, THANKYOU DOC!!!
That's why I got nuthin' but LUV' 4-U baby!!!

Folks, PLEAAAAAAAAASE!!!! I am NOT a GEAR SNOB nor am I some kinda' HI-END GEAR OWNER/AFFICIONADO( gear junkie maybe)!!! I have NOTHING against nor am I trying to belittle ANY Behringer gear owners!!!
And lastly, I am NO SUPREME DIETY of ALL things RECORDING or MIXING!!
In addition, I DO RECOGNIZE that this is a site dedicated to the "Home Recordist" with many of us operating on a tight budget trying to obtain the best product @ the lowest price!
My constant negative statements against MOST things Behringer
is the FACT that:
A)You take a 50-50 chance that a Beh product will provide quality perf over the years. Some will state that no prob has ever occurred while using unit while many will reply otherwise.

B)Most (not all) Behringer products will make the owner realize it's perf limitations where the need for a unit that provides more than adequate quality, i.e. thier line of MX pre's has a low dbu sens. rating which downgrades the perf of a hi-sens condensor.

C) ABSOLUTLY NO RE-SALE VALUE!!! You're lucky to get back .10cents on the dollar if you're attempting to sell off whatever unit you have.

If I came off as some kinda' "HOLIER-THAN-THOU" homie, I apologize! I just WISH I had some-1 to forewarn me about Behringer gear. Yeah, I wanted to start rec'ding at the cheapest price available, but sometimes when you're buying cheap, you lose on overall quality!

Peace my brutha's and sistah's!
