If only for a moment.....
What are the things in recording that you are comfortable with now, that you wish you had known or taken notice of when you first began recording ?

Less is more :)

edit: actually that's more in mixing... In recording I don't really know  - maybe in another year I will have an answer :p

over-under method of coiling mic cables

use of two fig8 mics to isolate singer with guitar (recorded simultaneously)

blumlein stereo technique

room treatment

I went 3 months without knowing that reversing the polarity on the bottom snare mic was the norm and sounds better. lol

Get your acoustics right first, then buy the expensive mics. Not the other way around.

that mixing is not the goal.
Not f$%king up the sound is actually the goal, if you record the sound as you want to hear it and you hardly have to mix at all.
Source trumps everything

I'm pretty sure it was this one, and my post didn't break any rules whatsoever.

I thought the same thing about my post in one of his other threads...there's this thread and the one in the Mixing forum...and they basically ask the same thing two different ways.

(I think Grim is getting feeble-minded. :) )

Sorry guys ! I was trying to keep the recording and mixing aspects separate. Because mixing is not mastering !! :D ;)
