Whoa. I"ll bet it is a fabulous mix deck! That thing is probably about as old as my M-23. And way heavier, too. Looks good! Notice the take up spool has no flanges. BASF always had the best slitting and most consistent pack, so the Euros could do without flanges.

Of course, you'd need to deal with the 50 Hz issue one way or the other... maybe just run it at 18 and 9 ips!

I had a J-37 for a little bit, but I could never figure out the problem with the transport not pulling tape quite right, so I sold it to Mitch for what I had in it. He has the big time tech guys fix his machines, and I think Fred Hill got it working a few years ago, so now it is part of the Fidelitorium lineup. This thing is listing for over twice what I paid for the J-37, though.

Cheers,

Otto

I love the play button with two eighth notes!

Ive seen a company that makes the hold downs for units like this one for a lot of money. I think they were selling them for about 2 to 3 hundred. I love the pics.

Man that is without doubt the coolest looking gear I have ever seen...The glowing tubes on the amp, wow...I would be at peace if I owned that...I thought my free teax 2300sx was the shit but I have totally deflated ...At least I can look at it...if i had the money, if i had the money...it would be mine...

Clevo, I suggest as a start you upgrade to a second lava lamp for the left hand side there. Ah, er, um, like I did....

Yeah, why not .... Lets indeed expand the thread to our "wishlist" items and others worthy of drooling over. :)

I love the play button with two eighth notes!

A lot of the stuff, from way back, seems to have been created by artists rather than pure engineers but then again, aren't the two inseparable? I just mean a lot of love went into those machines, much more so than anything today. The eighth notes play button (and that edit scissors one) being just one perfect example of that cherry on the cake.:)

I guess some of us collect not for purely musical reasons but for the artistry of it.

I think I've concluded now that the only thing I really seem to be missing in my performing and recording endeavours is talent.
