"If It Goes" Country tune! One mic and Garageband....

Hey y'all, it has been awhile since I have stopped by. I am busy with a couple of bands here in Bend Oregon and working as the inlay artist for Breedlove, Weber and Bedell guitars.

I recorded this song the other night at band practice with Garageband and one condenser mic track by track.
The rules were simple.

Two takes each, max.
One mic for each take.
Garageband mix.

Hope you guys like it. I played the upright and sang backups. Would appreciate feedback and insights for anyone using Garageband for "serious" recording. P.S. I also use logic but the goal was to work out a good mix with GB.

If anyone knows how to get proper volumes out of GB mixes I would love to hear your process.

The bass is a bit boomy IMO, but overall it sounds great. I do think it would be better if you could increase the volume, but I have knobs on my interface that does that too. I liked all of it! It sounds like you guys are all playing together. I like the sound of this type of country, especially compared to a lot of the bro-country on the radio. Nice work.
 
I listened to the first mix last night, on my phone, before I went to sleep. I thought that sounded pretty good. Couldn't hear the bass though.

Second mix, this morning, sounds pretty damn good to me. Some of the bass notes are a bit boomier than others that sometimes sound, almost not there. Other than that, I got nothing. Sounds great.

Sounds nice. Good playing and singing always trumps what is was recorded on. I could use more slide or pedal guitar. But I love that stuff.
 
Thanks for listening! The bass I have has that problem Mr Clean, not sure why but it is really annoying.. I need to fix a crack in the back (maybe that will help) and level the fretboard....if I could just find time in between gigs to dis-assemble the thing...
