if i get a yamaha mg 10??

if i get a yamaha mg10 and i hook it up to my fostex mr8..and i have 4 mics go into the mixer then have the recorder hooked up...will it just goto one track on the recorder??? or will it have to be 4 tracks considering all the microphones are in it?? if you could help me out that would be awesome

If you plug your mics in to the MG mixer and sub mix them to the main outs than you would use on channel on your MR8 but would will not be able to remix the 4 tracks. Now you can plug your mics in the the mixer and come out the inserts and go to the MR8s 4 inputs and have eveything on a differant track.

If you want things on seperate tracks then you need to send them to your recorders inputs seperately as suggested above. Im not sure if that mixer has direct outs, if so, you would plug from the direct out of each channel you want on its own track to an input on your mixer.
If you don't have direct outs you can tap the inserts on the mixer by partially plugging a cable into the insert jack. Its usually one click i believe?
