IDE for Fostex

I have a DTM 8 VL.I've had it since 98 or 97,and I was wondering if anyone knew if the thing will take any larger drive than 2.5 gig., I have access to a 5 gig Western Digital ide drive to replace the current 540meg that it came with . Since the time that I bought it the manuels list of drives maybe obsolete .I tryed to e-mail Fostex but to with no luck . Thanks for the help dondottcomm@aol.com
 
Hello, I have the same machine, had it about 2yrs also. Yeah you can add up to a 8.4gig harddrive. But I would not get the western digital unless it was 7200rpm. I had that drive at first. I had to take it back because it skipped. It was a 5400rpm speed . I have the machine filled with a 6,4gig quantam fireball now and have had no problems at all.
