Ibanez vs Schecter

schecter is one of the bar-setters when it comes to bang for the buck in my opinion. ibanez, once you get above the cheapest models, is up there as well in my opinion, and i really thought they made junk for a long time until i played a js-100.

For me, I can't play Ibanez because they don't make left-handed guitars (I've asked, and that's what I was told). But I love their tone.
I haven't played a Schecter, so I don't have an opinion...

Yeah.. Schecter is def a great guitar for what you pay. I used to be all about gibson, I wanted to save my money for a LP Custom yadda yadda yadda but I somehow convinced myself to settle for less with a Schecter. I have since forgotten about buying the LP and Ive wanted more to buy another Schecter perhaps a custom built.

I like Ibanez the expensive models atleast.. the cheaper ones are made accordingly. IMHO the cheap ones are junk. Im not sure tho if Id rather spend my money on a decent Ibanez or another Schecter.

I personally exculsively play schecter. I love their guitars and they really do have an awesome tone. I've played ibanez as well, but i've never been all that thrilled with any models but the prestige series. The C-1 Classic is fantastic.

Indeed. I highly recommend any of the Schecter models. Especially the C1's.

I like a lot of Ibanez guitars, as my name makes obvious, but if i had to pick a SZ or a schecter c1, I'd take the schecter, they have a better feel to them.

I'm a seven string player, so most of my opinions are about seven string guitars. I played and loved an Ibanez RG7421 seven string as my main guitar for five years. Pulled out the stock pickups and put some Dimarzios in there, and set it up nice and polished the frets. It played amazing, sounded great, I had no complaints except that I couldn't get the low B to intonate properly. I also didn't want to have a totally huge string for a low B so I was thinking an extended scale seven string would be nice.

But the only extended scale sevens I could find were very rare Ibanez RG7421XL's and Soloway Swans, which run about $2500. So I lived with it for a while.

Lo and behold, along comes the Schecter Blackjack series with two seven string models that both have an extended 26 1/2" scale. They also have mahogany bodies, set necks, tonepros bridges, grover tuners, and real Seymour Duncans, all stock for $600. I didn't even have that much, but I found a great deal on a 007 Blackjack seven string.

I A/B'ed it with my Ibanez, and while the Ibanez was a bit easier to play (can't beat a Wizard neck for that) the Schecter totally and utterly stomped the Ibanez in tone. And even though the Schecter's neck is bit more substantial, I had been finding that my hand would tend to cramp a bit when playing the Ibanez for long periods of time, and that the Schecter neck filled up my hand better and felt more comfortable.

I should also say that the quality, setup and fit and finish of my Korean made Blackjack was easily better than my Japanese made Ibanez. Plus with Ibanez you pretty much always have to upgrade the pickups unless you get the expensive models. Many Schecters come stock with Duncans or EMG's for less than $700.

I sold the Ibanez to pay off the Schecter. It's my favorite guitar I've ever owned.

I think both Ibanez and Schecter make some nice guitars, but the Schecters seem to be better bang for the buck in my opinion. They're my new personal favorite brand of guitars, and they really seem to be offering what a lot of guitarists want. I loved my Ibanez, but Schecters freaking rule.

I have had both..

Owned plenty of IveBeenHad's in my day and they all ended up sold on EBay.. I have a Schecter C1 Elite that isn't going anywhere.. Enough said...

I second that on the C1 Elite.
Had an Ibanez then sold it for the Schecter.

Ibanez made SOME left handed RG series years back. I don't think they have made anything lefty in years though.

They do to make left handed guitars.. I haven't seen many of the expensive models but all of the cheaper ones that I've seen have been made left handed.

I own and love my Omen 006. It plays as well as any guitar ive ever played, including the almighty lespaul, and strat.

I have owned ibanez'z. just the RG model. it was 500 model, so it was a nicer one. I love the neck on the RG's and thats it. they are smooth and fast, and make it easy to play lead on. THe think waht i hated about the guitar is the all the junky hardware. tuners, knobs, pickup selectors, locking nuts. it all breaks to easy with band normal band use.

thats all.
