I had my first location recording session in about 30 years last Saturday. Hopefully there will be many more to come. The band was "Nasty Habits", a self described "funky blues band". I had a great time, BUT, it isn't analog. I figure since I was posting all that "OLD" stuff from MANY years ago that I would post something a bit newer, even though it was digital. The band is a 3 piece, bass, drums, guitar and two vocals (only one on this song). I ran a total of 9 inputs, 7 through my Presonus Firestudio and 2 through my ART Digital MPA and then into the Firestudio by SPDIF. Anyway, here's my song from the darkside: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_songInfo.cfm?bandID=818206&songID=8712324 Feel free to comment.

The recording sounds pretty good but does seem to play a bit bottom heavy and upper mid to top end light...might be my speakers though, a decent 2.1 system from TDK.

Cheers! :)

Sounds good Richard. As long as they're happy with it. The 80-8 recordings sound better.. but... :D .... can't beat the convenience of digital for location recording at least.

I think I agree on bottom heavy. I recorded and did an initial mix using a pair of Tascam VL-X5's which are a bit bass light. I then took the tracks home and played them on my JBL 4328's and 4430's and they, as expected, seemed a bit bass heavy. What I posted is after remixing and cutting the bass back a bit. It may still need a bit of that. It was definitely a fun project though. I have about 7-8 more songs that they will want mixed for a demo and to sell at gigs. I hope when the word gets out that I can get more of these gigs. This will be my demo disc when it's done.

:laughings: It was a lot easier than hauling the old 80-8 around like I used to do. Besides, I can't do that anymore since I no longer have an orange Datsun 510 station wagon with orange shag carpeting in the back. :laughings:

I hate to admit it but it sounds good. Did I just say that? I'm going back into the analog forum. See ya their I hope.

Thanks for the comments. :D Enjoy the trip back in time. I'm number 20 out of 13,044 in Blues/Rock today. Now, if only I could collect some $$$ for that ranking. ;)
