I am VERY interested in getting into being a Luthier. I have read several books on the subject. I have catalogues from Luthiers Merchantile International, Stewart-MacDonald, And exotic wood distributors. I have bought and watch on a regular all 5 of the 2 hours video series from Frank Finnochio on building an acoustic guitar. I have sent off for 4 books on building arch top guitars to add to my already extensive library on building stringed instruments.

I cannot afford to take a class on the subject as they cost in the $2,000 plus travel, hotel, food, and plus material. I don't have the time, money or knowledge of which course to take to do all that. But I am NO week-end warrior that just thinks it would be "kinda cool" to build a guitar.

I want to build and arch top guitar with the Gretsch Tenessee Rose/Nashville as inspiration. I am finding it hard to find on-line groups on the subject. I can find a relatively large amount of suppliers that can supply material, books, videos, etc...
I am looking for on-line forums on the subject. TONS more videos. I want a DVD/VHS series on arch-top guitar building. Can anyone help me find any information on arch-top guitar construction. Any personal experience that you would share would be considered as gold to me.

I appreciate your help and attention.

Mike,

Take a long look around www.mimf.com ...........it is a fantastic resource.

YESSS!!
MIMF RULES!

MIMF is one of the best resources in existence and the only one of its kind.

They host periodic luthery on line courses from time to time. One of the giants over there is a guy named Bill Moll. Bill has done a number of archtop guitar courses. I believe it's under five hundred bucks; you have to buy the materials and have the tools, and it is a subscription only thing. But it's intense and people have raved about it.

Check out Bill's SITE.
