I want to get serious about the guitar, but I feel I can't grow.

I can move around the fret board on the dots and bend the strings pretty good. I have friends that I should be in a band, and that I have raw talent. I don't know If I have been afraid or what, but I'm 35 and want to get this guitar thing I have growing. help.

Your profile says you are 36

Yeah, get in a band. If you haven't been in a band, keep that in mind when searching for bandmates and don't try to hook up with a bunch of pros. Their technique might not be any better, but they have band skills that you might not.

Don't be bashfull!!! If you want to try the band thing then go for it. Jam with as many people as you can, when you find "the right bunch of fellows" you will know it. Don't try to fit in with an already together band, form your own with people of similar abilities and intrests. You aren't too old to still do it, I'm a lot older than you and still play. The only place where youth and good looks is as important as talent is if you are the frontman (or frontwoman, depending on the band.) Too much emphasis is put on youth, talent and style take time to develope.

Another idea would be to attend as many local jams/open mikes as you could and listen and learn from the other folks there. Remember, NOTHING will take the place of actually playing with other musicians in a live environment. Good luck! :)
