I want to get a saturated sound like this...

Its the sound of a heavy band playing back as a real audio file. The bass is all blown out etc..

It reminds me of seeing a band ata club and the sound being so loud your ears are getting screwed.. (i did alot of that years ago)


Any ideas how I could go about effecting a complete mix to sound somewhat like that? Final eq etc...?

Man , what a dreadfull song! I had to put it off after 20 seconds, it sounded like my processor was exploding

When you want 'saturated' sounds, the most important things are done during recording, not eq'ing afterwards. I don't really like the mentality of some lazy recorders (I'm not meaning anyone on this board) who don't put much time in the recording proces because 'you can fix it anyway in the mix'. Especially if you want a heavy sound, like the bass, you have to capture it on a decent way with decent mics, period.

another thing you always get with those metal stuff that it is compressed to the bone! If you make music like the media file you posted, compress as hard as you can to make it as hard as possible because you can't say there is much dynamic variety in the song.
