KaBudokan - listened to Gladiolas. Yes, a good sounding mic on that song, plus I'm impressed you didn't use any EQ or compression on that tune. Okay, now, take it over to the mp3 clinic.

I can't tell by listening to an mp3 with delay and reverb how the NT-2 compares to the NT-1 though. My ears aren't there yet.

I guess I'm talking about $500-600 as THE TOP, but if there are less expensive deals, I'd like to learn. I'm only recording on tape - Tascam 488 mkII. I just wanna make sure I get something I won't regret later. I don't usually like sellin gear, most of my stuff is "keepers". I already have a friend's NT1 (it's nice), so it only makes sense to get a "much better" mic. Thanks everybody.

Anybody using the CAD E-200? It has omni and figure 8 patterns and is even more inexpensive than the AT 4050. I am impressed with my CAD E-100's on drums so I am going to try an E-200 and see how it works out on vocals and guitars. I will have the opportunity to compare it with a friend's 4050 in my actual studio but I wonder if anyone else is using this mic and what you think of it.
