I'm game to listen to others stuff if I can be directed to where it hangs on the net...

peace and love.

Ric, I dig your voice. Somewhere between Gedi Lee and Jon Anderson. Actually the tune has a Yes sound to it. I like this a LOT.

Yeah, a bit of YES for sure.

Good to hear some stuff from you again Ric, your a tough person to forget.

I still get the odd tune from you stuck in my head that I listened to years ago.

Your vocals on the chorus are killer.

Rock on!

Ric, YOU BASTARD,

You think you can just stroll back in here after two years away?

Do you know how worried we were? We didn't know if you were alive or dead!!

I suppose you had some drug addiction to overcome, you rock stars are all the same.

So now you want us to listen to your songs about all the "Pain" youv'e been through. Well think again MISTER!!

BTW: Great to have you back!!

some imaginative stuff. It's too bad the drums are so obviously canned though, as the programming is really realistic and good.

the vocals are a little on the munchkin side for me, and hit me kinda almost bizarre when they first come in at :21...like bordering on intonation problems. As the song progresses, I can accept them more.

the guitar playing is good and some nice parts, leads..etc. but suffers from a direct kind of sound too...being almost too thin sounding.

I like the Mr. Roboto voices....cool... how do YOU do that?

all the above critisisms are fairly minor, and really pale in comparison to the great writing, arranging and production you have done. All in all...nice stuff, but suffer from that home-reccors syndrome of drum machines with fake cymbals, synthetic instrument sounds and the like.

as far as commenting on the other peoples stuff and needing links...they're all there in the posts.... happy hunting!

ric,
i kinda liked the song, reminded me a lot of the stuff Yes was doing in the 80's...

are those vocals real? or is there some pitch shifting going on there...?

Thanks all for the time to listen in...I think I've come across some old names too!!!

Thanx TR for the listen...I'm glad you enjoyed it. That is the best thing to me about music...transfering of feeling and emotion to another person. Music rules.

Hello again Mr. Emeric, glad to meet you again. You must be refering to "Flame War,"...my whimsical interpretation of BB altercations. He...I still have that kicking around somewhere.

Thank you for the compliment.

That I will and many thanks for your ears.

Hiya GT! Errrr :o , thorry about the dissappearance. I was ah...errr....um...busy???? <hiding bong behind back> I'll never do it again. PROMISE! :D

mixmkr, thanks for your indepth feelings on this tune, I appreciate it...

It's too bad the drums are so obviously canned though, as the programming is really realistic and good.

I know it's going to sound a bit cliche', but would you believe we meant to do that??? ;) robot voice + canned drum track = good.

the vocals are a little on the munchkin side for me, and hit me kinda almost bizarre when they first come in at :21...like bordering on intonation problems. As the song progresses, I can accept them more.

Well, I am a munchkin of sorts (5' 3") and your not the first person to say my voice is weird and almost problematic tonally. I have found my voice is a love it or hate it kinda thing. I come to accept that some will distain my vox. There are VERY few in the middle.

the guitar playing is good and some nice parts, leads..etc. but suffers from a direct kind of sound too...being almost too thin sounding.

Well again, the message was meant to be informally technology meets emotion...robots and canned sound meets dunkin' munchkin ric. What direction would you have taken the production to accomplish that goal?

...
but suffer from that home-reccors syndrome of drum machines with fake cymbals, synthetic instrument sounds and the like.

Well, I guess from your perspective our sound was missing the mark. But I assure you, it is exactly how we intended it. That "fake" sound does conjur up certain feelings, and my distinctly odd vox we believe was a fitting counterpoint for the obvious "machine" presentation. You do have a good ear...

Hello Queue

thanks for your time to listen in...

are those vocals real? or is there some pitch shifting going on there...?

Well, the robot sound is from a vocoder. The lead vocals are my natural voice...no pitch shifting. Some live doubling though.

Great to be back around, hope to listen to some great tunes. Feel free to post here, or I'll lurk around and see what's around.

GT, your post made me piss my pants!!

Nite nite all...

I do remember 'flame war' , but not the one I was thinking of, forget the title. Was a good one though. It was on your site, don't see it there (or others). Probably have it somewhere here.

Are all your songs up at another site, or did you take them down?

Hey Ric, glad to see you back! The tune sounds good. I'll post a better review when I get a little more time.

Emeric...

Yeah, I pulled all my shit down over a year ago and did nothing. I go through "spells" where I just get frustrated er sumthin...I'll prolly put some more up.

Fill me in on his Nowhere radio...it seems everybody's parking their stuff there...

CMiller...

Lesse, I still occasional listen to On My Side...that's you right???

dtb...

Great music you have posted. I was grinnin ear to ear on Level Headed Woman...My Daddy's Earl Scruggs comes to mind...fun music. Good to drink lotso beers by... :)

Ric,

Great work, nice blend of guitar, synth, and voice.

Only nit, voice seems a little breathless in parts, don't forget deep breaths!!

Very nice, don't ever leave again!!

First thought is that the chorus is truly great... I love the chorus vocals..

You said you wanted the canned drum sounds, but it sounds like in other parts you tried to make it sound more real...like the solo parts and the outro.. I basically hate all the drums sounds..

Rush is my favorite band, along with the obvious, but I dont like Yes too much....strange... That being said, I dont like the verses too much but the choruses more than make this song a good one...... except the last chorus.

I dug it much except the verses and the drums etc.

Just in case you want to hear who the comments are coming from, heres my tunes.. www.nowhereradio.com/samij/singles

Thanx for your thoughts on the tune Sam...

This tune is a blend of alot of different genres...I can't expect to please every ear, right??

Anyways, I just stuck something up on Nowhereradio that is prolly more your speed. Real drums too. A nifty collab between New Mexico (Scott and Mike) and Massachusetts (Yours truly :))...

Enjoy!!

Think I'll wander around a bit...

peace and stuff...

Oh shite...hey Sam, I forgot to mention I plowed through yer page...interesting blend of crunch guitar and tinkling piano work.

I liked a lot of it...

Kewl!!!

ric

Hey ric...I like this 2nd tune a lot....and the vocals too... nice intro...even with the indian pow-wow beat!!

yeah...nice tuneage....

the drums sound like they "almost" want to stumble at times....but seem to make it in the nick of time.

good job

Very cool tune Ric! That new tune is very good, like the other one. It reminds me of a heavy Rush.:) And I mean that as an extreme compliment... I wont bother with my negatives, I'll just say I liked the tune a lot.......just like the other.

IMOP your voice makes the song..

Thanks for checking out my tunes.....
when you say you liked my 'tinkling piano work', I hope you dont mean urinating.:D

Nice use of instruments. Nice creativity. Cool sound on the bass. Cool sound on the guitars. This song has a terrific ambiance to it. Oh and I like the little (almost borouque sounding) keyboard part. It was used perfectly

The vocals are a little too close to munchkin for my taste.

Not my style. But very well produced.

Sam,

Naw...didn't mean urinating...I would have said pissy piano playing in that regard!!;)

TM,

Thanks for the listen. Mmmmm. More "munchkin" stuff. All I have to say to that is, "Follow the Yellow Brick Road!"

On to Emerald City...

baah bye
ric out.
