Optimus Prime
Back in 75' when I was 5 years old. I use to get my pillow off my bed and put it in my brothers bass drum while he was playing and fall asleep.
All my life I have liked the sound of the drums, and loud rock in general. I have always had a talent for the drums even though I am not a drummer. I would watch my brother, how he held the sticks to make different sounds, and now it just seems to flow naturally when I play. I bought my kids a jr. set and I play on them, but now I want a set of my own.
Man I love the Drums.

Right On

Man you must be def! :p
My Mom used fall asleep in the Bedroom above my room when I was Jamming.
Thats great you got your Kids into it also. :)
Well, you'll get a lot of different responses with this question.
You know the sound that your looking for.
I would suggest that you should go down to a music store with as many different kit's set up!I dont know if you have a guitar center.
Be very firm and not give into a Pearl Masters If you dont want to spend a lot of
money :) :p
I would start with a Pearl export
or Tama
or Yamaha
Maple if your just jamming or Birch for recording!
As for cymbals I like Zildjian.Stay away from the zbt's!
Hope this helps ;)

WHAT?!! I'M SORRY, YOU'LL HAVE TO SPEAK UP!! I USED TO SLEEP IN MY BROTHER'S BASS DRUM WHILE HE WAS PLAYING, AND I CAN'T HEAR VERY WELL!!

DID YOU SAY SOMETHING ABOUT A PILLOW??

I can hear fine. I don't have tinnitis.
I like loud music, well loud music that sounds good. I like to feel the different instruments. It isn't even worth listing to if you can barely hear it. I know, because growing up all our cars had am radio and 1 speaker in the dash. To me music at low volume is just background noise, and I would rather be watching tv. It has to be 4D.

I guess thats why being in a band would be great, you are in the middle of it :) I always wanted to sing in a band.

One of the loudest band I've played in was a Metallica/Pantera style. We got a rehearsal studio in North Hollywood that had a SEVERE standing wave problem! I remember once the whole band simultaniously his the EXACT resonance note to get that wave going and it LITERALLY knocked me off my drum throne.

I've never experienced anything like that other than the Northridge quake in '94. We were out of that room in a week!!

Sorry, what was this thread about??

*Sigh* No one ever gets my jokes on the web! I guess there's an inflection that doesn't translate into type.

I hearby retract the above and the "What are you, 8?" jides from this forum!! I'll be good now.

I'm really funny, though! Just ask me!! --Badump ching!!

does birch really affect recording that much? that i should not buy a studio kit that is maple... i am looking at the pacific CX series which is maple ...should i drop that idea and get the other model that is birch

I knew you were joking.

I think that I found refuge and peace in my big brothers kick drum. I was 5 and he was 15 at the time. he started playing drums when he was 12 and he was really good. He turned out the type to thing that drummers were not equal with say keyboardists or other instrument players. It is a shame cause he was right up there with the best.

it's almost like this was posted on April 1st or something...

Why? Is there something special about April first? - (ching)
