the forum was being really screwy around lunchtime...

i tried to make this thread twice!

oh well...

http://www.nowhereradio.com/rollingdingleberries/singles

its "addicted to you".

i forget what i said in the original post but i tried to keep the bass and vocal levels lower!

i tried for a fuller sound with more depth in the panning and effects.

i hope the server accepts this reply now...

:(

Things seem to be in order now. Same thing happened to me the very first time I posted here, thought I'd lost my mind.
Downloading now, back in a few with comments.

Something about this song really stuck to the roof of my brain. :D

Shades of Love Potion #9...
This has a cool 60s feel to it. I like the mix, the laid-back vocal, the relaxed rhythm, the bubbly guitar.
And I liked the line "...till my next peanut butter attack."
Very cool!

Cool.....I could get jiggy with this one too! Nice song. I really like the vocal delivery, - its up front, bare and intimate.

I also like the guitar. It seems very familiar, yet I can't place it - and that's a good thing.

I don't know whether I like the drums. The snare sounds like the springs are a bit loose, and are *clashing* with the high-hat and ride, - they all have the same frequency or maybe just the same feel. Maybe if you dial back the reverb a bit it may separate them better....but I'm on the fence, 'cause I kinda like 'em anyways!

...nice groove...

/DMM

Sounds good to me. I can hear everything well..............I like the snare sound. A very cool vibe to it with the tremelo guitar. Good vocals.....I like this one.

the snare strainer is loose! i like that sound cause when you tighten up you get a choked sound. ha ha ha i really did put some heavy reverb on it and it smoothed it out.

ive had this riff for years but i never put words on it. lt bob's latin stuff made me think of it.

its a dorian thing like black magic woman so i put a ton of percussion on it. theres bongos, metal cabasa, claves, tambourine.

the riff is original but its along the lines of "tequila".

there is not one speck of EQ anywhere on this!

thanks for listening!

I get you on the "Tequila" thing. But I wonder if I would have noticed if you hadn't mentioned it.

As a peanut butter addict myself, I really appreciate this song (I'd say I'm a "Skippy man", but I don't want it taken the wrong way :D). It's about time that somebody has stood up and spoken for us.

Cool writing.

I thought some of the drums sounded cool. Was there a little miscue at 1:58?

I liked the guitar parts, especially the one panned right and doing the picking.

Your voice didn't sound as good on this song as on "Jiggy" - was it a bit low for your range? It seemed some of the low notes weren't hit just right.

yeah it felt kinda low. i tend to choose keys that are easier to play in rather than easier to sing in...

this one was e dorian.

skippy MAN??? arent you marcia????

its really hard sometimes to stop eating bp and each brand can have its own allure. the best i ever had came from a health food store and i had half the jar gone before i knew it!

sure there is a miscue!!! the whole thing is full of em!!! i cringe when i hear the part right around the word "spoonful"!!! is that the part? how awful!!!!

i thought that my timing would be better by now but i guess ive improved somewhat so ill keep trying!

ha ha ha i tried to write it so youd think after the first verse that its about a person and not a food. its a love song but its not!

:)

The first thing I thought of with that crash of the cymbal was some sort of psychedelic 60's sound...Your vocals on this really remind me of Jim Morrison in a strange sort of way ...

Whoa --- this is a totally cool tune in an acid kind of way ... I can totally imagine some kind of light show going on in the background.

I like your use of instrumentation on this. There are some strange sounds going on in the background and the guitar sounds spacey. Good vocals as well.

Nice job ... kind of left me day-dreaming ...

Hey Jeap,
cool stuff man....... yea, i got the sixties vibe too. Kinda Doorsish witha toucha latin feel. I dig the drum sounds......loose and free. Nice work man. ........im off to a pb&j sandwich....... (where did that craving come from?)

wow theres that jim morrison thing again!

i wonder why i never realized i sounded kinda like jim morrison?

the crash, when it leads into instrumental parts is a sizzle crash! i love sizzle crash!

acid light show? yes! there should be pulsating blobs of color and weird shapes dancing around!

thanks for the kind words and the listen!

:)

black magic women

was the first thing that popped into my head.

yeah this is cool!! i really dig your voice man, it has jeap written all over it!!

alway's a pleasure!!

peace

I was thinking Jim M before I read any of the other replies.

I don't think the vox were sung too low, but maybe need a touch more attitude or edge. This is not to say I didn't like them 'cause I did.

How 'bout a dab of phase or flange here and there like not all the way through but in select spots?

I dig this one, very retro, cool daddy

I caught the Tequilla sounding riff before I read the other posts. Hurray for me. :) I like this vibe. I like the general production, the drums sound way cool.

Very easy tune to toke to. I give it a 7. :)

wow man!!!

bong hits for everybody!!!

ha ha ha its hard for me to get worked up for the vocals in my basement. i have to try to make myself think happy energetic thoughts or something!

i jusy hooked up a behringer virtualizer effects unit so ill have some really weird effects to choose from now. the reverbs in this thing are really smooth and theres some tricked out lo-fi and pitch shifting stuff too!

paaaaarty!!!!

:p

my first thought was that the sound as a whole sounds fuzzy.
I think the vocal is a little loud, but controlled.

I *really* like this.

The drum sound is perfect - don't change a thing. The loose, ringy snare is beautiful.

Picky guitar on the right - excellent.

"Lead" guitar - maybe a wee bit "attack"-y - the tone is perfect, but the notes start just slightly too "hard". I don't know if this makes any sense?

The organ stabs on beats 2 & 4 - very cool. I love that you didn't change these throughout - simple is perfect for this track.

And I really like the vocal. Ghost of Jim Morrison, etc.

BUT (and I'll probably get shot for this) I think it would be even better if you kept the lyric ambiguous. Let the listener think it's about some unattainable paramour if they want to! Very few changes would be needed, and then you'd have a genuinely spooky, laid-back, slightly twisted love song.

I'd buy it.

Cheers

Alastair

the fuzzy sound is my metal guiro which i think i called a metal cabasa earlier...

anyways its the scraper thing and i kept it going for the whole tune. that and the hat are kinda low in the mix and are mushy together!

mushy fuzzy!

thanks alistaire im glad you like it!

i probly could have messed witht the attack on the guitar. i put a comp on it and i tend to ignore the attack and release controls. what are those things anyways?

ha ha ha the lyric started out as "peanut butter blues" and was intended for "let's get jiggy wid it" but didnt fit the rhythm. i kept the sheet of paper and reworked it over a riff i called "dorian thing".

i know what you mean about ambiguity and i agree 100% that it can really help a song connect with more ppls. i like the comical aspect of revealing the true topic in the 2nd verse...

i promise i wont reveal that my next tune is really about a dead aquarium fish!

:p

........hey man, sorry to bug you again....:D

I have listened to this a few times since my last post, and i just wanted to stop in again and say that i enjoy the song. Very Q. Tarentino ............. I really dig it:D g
