I'm being steadfast about my absence from myspace. It's so overcrowded I don't see how independent musicians get through the din of all those 'band sites'. Must be a lot of linking and glad-handing. I have little time for either right now. Can hardly finishing recordings as it is.

myspace, while lots of it is irritating and crap, is an amazing indie artist tool, whether one agrees with that fact or not. I haven't sold too many cd's online, but the people in my area that do have my cd are friends with me on myspace, and I know it is their constant listening to me on my profile that made them fans in the first place. I think myspace is a great tool for getting fans, especially people in your area/region, because they are more likely to take interest in you if you are from the area.

Every time I go to Myspace, I feel as though I should be reported to the Police. Too many kids! Very creepy place. Sorta like reading 'People' magazine.

Yeah. I've tried to promote that way on there too. You can search by interest like music or bands... but I haven't found a way where you can narrow it down to your city. If you ever figure that out let me know.

The best way to find a bunch of kids in your area that like your music, is to find the biggest local band of a similar genre, and add everyone on their friends list!

Why do people feel the need to use the term "Gay" as a means of saying something is unpleasent or just plain sucks?
And before the homophobe's come out bashing, I'm 100% straight. I just don't think it's cool to use that phrase... I don't go around to people who like Rap saying "Gee that's totally black of you". Like it or not, they're a culture within our midst and deserve as much respect as you or I.

Just kidding! Even though you probably won't take me seriously now, I honestly agree with you. I thought people stopped using "gay" as an expression of negativity like 5 years ago. Plus isn't it politically incorrect to say that nowadays anyways? Then again, what isn't politically incorect nowadays.
Myspace would be much more effective if they added a few simple, logical features. Oh, and it would help if they fixed the browsing feature within your friends list. That way you could inform people in a specific area of a show coming up, etc.
