The story behind this mix, is that we had 3 of the four singers that are on it come in and sing all at once, as this was just a practice session for a live performance at church. The fourth singer came in a few days later and had just one take of her, where we had 2 or 3 takes of the other females. Anyways, they sung live to just the keyboard track, but I would like to spice it up a little, vocal mistakes and everything including the baby at the beginning (she was strapped to her mother and was quiet for almost the whole practice session of 7 songs). Then I want to give the mix to them as a present....if it works out good enough that is. I would love to tell you exactly what I want, but I don't know what I want, so anyone that wants to join in you have free rane on it, but I think all it really needs is guitar and maybe some drums. The keyboardist didn't want to play to a click so I don't have one. And seeing that one of the singers is my wife I really want to surprise her with a semi rocking mix of this song. Just post your 320 mp3s somewhere and I will mix them in, unless you really want to mix them in yourself. I am a noobie to this part of the forums, so if I missed anything just ask, or tell me its a stupid idea and to go away.

Thanks,
Tim

The song is playing at just past 2:07 as I am typing....

I don't think you need to add anything to this, honestly! I think it just needs a little more attention on the mixing. The keys are waaaaaay out front and the vocals are buried.

Can you post the individual tracks? I'd like to give it a shot. I've never mixed piano and voice alone before.

I think I can do that for you. But not tonight. Sleep time is quickly approaching.

<---here is the professional version of it....

Might give you some ideas, might not.

If you get some drum tracks I may be able to slip some clean guitar in there for you SRR... :)

Well, I don't think it sounds bad at all...could probably use some compression to tame some of the spikes, and maybe even it out, but sounds good already. Do you want to really change it up with more instruments, as that would be totally different than what they originally did. If so, I know Gort can nail ya down some good, and tastefull guitars, but not sure about drums. A few drummers around, but not sure how busy they are.

If I could help with anything, I would, but this probably doesn't need anything that I am capable of doing.

If you want some sampled drums, I just got ez-drummer, and would gladly try and put some into it.

Sampled drums would be ok, this is just a remix for the 4 singers and 1 keyboardist. But if you guys feal it really doesn't need anything I wouldn't want you wasting your time on it, really if its as good as it gets I can be satisfied. I do really love the keys, but since I recorded them I always wondered what a little guitar would do to it, since the professional version has guitars. BTW, the keyboard was a Roland RD-170 (I think thats the model number), and I was surprised at how wonderful a sound she got out of it.

I'll play around with this for a bit tonight....the drums are already preocessed, so I might be able to get something similar to the original with ez-drummer.

SRR - just wanted to pass along my kudos to the singers and keyboard player.

Sounds very nice with what you have..but....

Would love to hear DOGMAN spice this up with his driving rhythm and Gorty likewise with his sweet Strat or LP's.....

I'll keep an eye in this thread for updates.....

:D :) :D :)

Hi SRR !! I personally think adding the drums, ryhthm and lead and bass...will be just the ticket for this song. Do you think your wife would add some wailing solo vox to it. I can hear it....oh yeah... It is a sweet song the way it is, but you said you wanted to surprize your wife with a semi-rocking mix. I guess I am going beyond semi-rocking though. I never did know when enough was enough.

I have always had a preference for rocking Jesus music...so I am the rock-down-the-house-and-shake-up-the-pews-nut they throw out at at the socials. :D

Hey SRR,

Do you have a chord progression of any sort at all that I could use as a guide??

Working on it, but not have anything to go on....

Emailed the keys player this morning will see if she can scan her sheet she played to.

BTW, all the singers were singing into $100 dynamic mics, 2 SM57s, 1 SM58, and 1 Beta57 were used. If this wasn't a practice session I would break out the "good" mics. Not that I have GOOD mics....

I can't get anything to line up...seems teh tempo changes are a bit sporatic, and I don't know how to make my program change the tempos to match. Sorry man. :o

No problem man, like I said she didn't play to a click, and since her playing was just for one practice sesssion (which turned into two since one of the singers couldn't make the first time slot) and one live performance. I wasn't gonna force the issue of HAVING to play to a click, I offered, she refused, I pushed record, she was like here for 10 mins tops not counting setup and tear down of her keyboard. If this doesn't happen, drums, guitar, what have you no sweat, just wanted to give it a shot, seeing as I don't play I didn't know if it was possible or not.

Thanks,
Tim

Should have a Chord Progression sheet the keys player used on thursday, if anyone is still up to doing this.
