.............and I guess we all do every now and then. I have these two ideas. (Musical) Seems like they both evolved at about the same time. (In spite of how different they sound.) One of these came to me in a dream-no lie. Wasn't all that original but it had a very nice flow. The other song came to me after receiving a check for a demo I recorded for someone else and I just felt these really happy urges. Hey I'm not looking for psych help but it's driving me crazy cuz these two little composition need some type of finality and I can't for the life of me think of anything to do with them. I am drawing a blank-completely. I am actually loosing sleep over it. LOL Help me out forum. Any suggestions or ideas for finishing these would be greatly appreciated and taken seriously to heart. These are a little "rougher" sounding than a lot of my stuff so please forgive that but if anyone can help, I know you guys can. (Maybe I do just need a good shrink or a long vacation) Here are the links and the dreamy song is called "Unda' Cova' Luv" and the happy little ditty is called ""Off Da' Hook". Click on the link below. You know the way...................

hi there,
I'm listening to off da hook, and the recording sounds great. No mix suggestions. i'm 2:40 into it and it's getting old. very repetative. everything sounds really good, I think that you just need to come up with some lyrics, and shorten the song down to 3 minutes or so. What if any instuments did you play on this?
cool little jam
Jason

I know exactly what you're talking about. I usually run out of steam somewhere around the beginning of a song's second verse!

I'll listen to the tunes when I get home from work.

undacovaluv - The bed sounds really nice...but I hear ya', that's what it sounds like...a music bed.

This one screams for a melodic lead line, preferably played by a sax...a REAL sax...

Damn, I hope Lt. Bob sees this one.

This is too cool to be musak, but it's not done enough to be cool, lol.

Nice bass work...I appreciate the jazz chords on the guitar too...you could definitely get away with ripping this one into a lead guitar driven piece, I just think the horns would fit better.

Where's the lieutenant, dammit.

"To cool to be Muzak but done enough to be cool" (Is that like "I'm too sexy for my shirt; so sexy till it hurts"?) :)

And Jason, I played all the instruments here. Did the synths, guitar, drum programming (Roland XP) and 5 string bass. All those instruments. The curse of being a band director and all those years of frats and parties in college, Oh my..........;)

thanks everyone so far for replying. I am listening.........

Off Da Hook:
When I lived in Peoria, Illinois, I used to occasionally play a place called DR's. It was a blues club. Another act that played there frequently was Miss Bobbi. She was a very sexually-driven black woman who weighed in at about 250+ pounds. She had one of the most powerful and sexy voices I've ever heard and the attitude to go with it. There was many a time that she would come out into the audience and bury some guy's head in her ample breasts while belting out some sex-charged song (a few times that guy was me). This song needs a "Miss Bobbi."

Unda' Cova' Luv:
Don't know quite what to suggest here. Just listening, it sounds like it "needs something." As a song to romance my girlfriend with, it's fine as it is. As a soundtrack song for a movie or something, it's fine as it is. Hmm...

I think Under Cova Luv needs a flute solo for the lead. That might make it KennyG like, but I think it would work. Sax or some kind of horn would work too, but .... I vote for a flute.

Unda Cova needs a good "real" horn on it. The guitar is a little early and gets just a little busy in the soft intro verse where the Rhodes is droppin in the glassy notes.

Off Da Hook is real cool, but I think you need something hittin on the 4`s like a cowbell or a cymbal bell for a hinge to hook the rythyms, maybe not on every section. If you run that same rythym and halftime it going to the 4th for a verse and let a horn or a screaming feedbackin-too-hot wah-wah guitar solo sit in there it would be dynamo.
