Never played with the Waves RCL plug at all until today. What a comp/limiter for warming up mixes! Works pretty much the same way as something like TRacks, but of course much better, and can work with 24 bit files....:)

I love new love...:D

Ed

P.S. Oops! Forgot to put a link to an example I spent about 5 mins working on with it. I used the REQ 4 band (not quite as nice as QMetric, but still a very capable eq) and the RCL on this one.

P.S.S Oops! Forgot to say also that this clip is a before and after DSP.

Played around a bit with the RCL, it's a killer. Also a killer on your CPU :)

BTW, who makes that Qmetric thing, noticed you mentioned it in other posts but have never been able to find it.

Hey Ed, ya might check out Sonic Timeworks' "CompressorX" too. It's pretty good, and has a lovely brick-wall limiter. The metering is pretty much useless on it, though.

Well....

I tried all the Timeworks plug in's and didn't really like them very much. They weren't too bad, but when you have Waves and the Steinberg Mastering Edition stuff, all else tends to not compete all that well.

And yeah, it seemed like the metering on all their stuff was a little funky.

Oh geez Ed, I thought you found a new brand of beer or something.

Yeah, I go for the RCL most of the time too. It's a lot easier to adjust. They made CompressorX too pretty and not as friendly as it should be. But it's all about the limiter... kinda like having a built-in L1. Those are the only 2 compressor plug-ins that really stuck out from the rest of the crop, IMO.

Killer funk, I don't hear that enough these days :D.

This compressor goes on all my recordings and sounds great. It is also the biggest CPU hog of all my plugins. Makes the audio performance just sky rocket. None the less it kicks butt. The only plugin that is just as bad is Magneto. Anyway just my .02

Shakes,

Have you hugged your JoeMeek today?
