The system i got is quite alright, espeically for sound editing, let's list out the parts
Case: Raidmax Storm 55 dollars (at local shop, or newegg for 60)
This is an alright case, 2 clear windows, 5 fans included and even though the box says it has a 350W power supplies, it actually has a 420 Watt power supplies. overall i think it's one of the best case for the money

Motherboard & CPU: ECS + XP 2400 for 80 dollars at fry electronic, or ECS + XP 2000 for 60 at fry. (this can be clocked at 2.1 Ghz at 140 FSB x 15 which is what i'm running now with stock votage, that's about the clock of the 2600 or maybe 2700 throughbred)
Graphic card: Geforce 4 mx 440 64MB for 45 dollars (if u want some gaming u might wanna look at the TI 4200 for just 30 bucks more)
Sound card: he's using his sound blaster but is looking at the M-audio Delta 410 PCI for 100 dollars
RAM: 256 MB of muskin PC 2700 RAM for 30 dollars
Heatsink and Thermal paste: artic silver + aero 7 lite for 20 dollars
This system has no floppy or optical drive
as of now it's 300 dollars without sound card and optical drive, with the delta 410 and a DVD burner we are looking at a 500 dollar system.
