My Opinion

The opening guitar sounds really nice, beautiful tone.
The spanky kind of hit is too abrupt a different of sound.
If there is a way to tone it down(volume wise), it would help.
The vocal sounds behind the guitar stage wise acoustically speaking.

The small room sound on the voice coupled with the voice sounding slightly dark and woolley puts it back stage to the guitar.

Remember, drier and brighter brings things closer, darker with room puts it further back.

I don't know what your old stuff sounds like, but this is good.

Thank you.

Yeah, i hate the string slap on the main riff. I'm still trying to quiet that down.

For the vocals - should I bring them up in the mix a bit and a little less reverb?

I would try the vocal dry (or drier), and cut a little (maybe 2 - 3 dbs) around 330 hz to kill off the woof. If that does not bring the vocal forward enough I would add a very tiny bit of 5k and or 10k to the voice to bring it forward.

It is an excellent start.
