Ok I am really not that smart when it comes to home recording, I will admit that! I just go a new EMU1212M Soundcard! It has the Patchmix Dsp applicaton. I also got a EuroRack Ub1832fx-pro mixing board.

Ok i hope someone can follow me here. I have the mixing board plugged into the soundcard using 2 one quarter inch phone plugs. I have audio on the Dsp thing. But when i try to record on my Cakewalk pro audio9 it wont record!!
i clicked the speaker in the bottom right of my pc and for recording it says E-DSP wave(c800) but there is no recording volume! Is wave the correct recording? I downloaded the newest patches and drivers for the DSP but nothing will record still! I really need help! I have a feeling that my problem is either with the DSP application or with the way i have the mixing board hooked up. I tryed pluggin just a mic in the back of the soundcard... It still would not record! And i do have sound from the mic when i speak into it! It just wont record the sound... So i really dont think i have it hooked up wrong!
Can anyone help me??????

It's really helpful to go through the motions the manual outlines for using the Patchmix software...

In this case, you have to insert a send to a host wave. In the input in the patchmix that you're using, right clik on the insert section, hit insert send (Output to asio wave or physical out), then choose host wave L/R.

Another note: Any particular reason why you're using Cakewalk 9 instead of the included Cubasis? I'm guessing familiarity, which is perfectly valid...but be advised, because Cakewalk 9 support ASIO, you won't be able to use the full input and output capability of the soundcard. (Later Cakewalk software does...)
