...sigh...

Well, yes-- I do believe you are a pretentious fuck. In fact, I am sure of it.

You also missed my point. I am not surprised. Read it again and think about it, instead of having a hissy fit when someone gives criticism.

Did I dredge this up? Yes. Why? Because nearly every time I come to this page, I read about how you are going to take music further than anyone else has ever gone.
This apparently includes: posting sing alongs, explaining that your guitar sounds "just like" a bass or Les Paul, or your voice is EXACTLY like APC-guy. Ooooohhhh...are you anti-Christian? Is that a pentagram? Goddamn-- you are cutting edge...if this was 1968. Yet ironically, you complain that only new music is worthwhile.

Then you rant about how easy certain types of music are, and your proof consists of you fucking around with a drum machine and whining into a mic. Guess what, bitch? YOU MISSED THE FUCKING POINT. When you are asked to back up how great you are, you explain that you can't do it in 5 minutes (along with various disclaimers), but when you come back with your Huge Artistic Statement That Will Revolutionize Music you'll laugh at us all. Who cares? I have encountered only one other musician who has made the same moronic complaints as you-- and he couldn't play either. And stop it with your massive hard-on for Tool, APC and Orgy.

Can you post something useful? Can you post a piece of your Super Double Secret Statement? I doubt it, but please be sure to post when your album is available. I would love to hear it. Will it be available this Fall?

Fuck you very much.

Nate

He he....Same old Webster talkin' out his ass again. Good job,

Fangar

Hey, I'm not trying to give you a hard time here. BTW, the "yeah..." part is the pre-chorus. Cobain threw that great hooky part in to build tension up to the real chorus "I like it..." Cobain wrote choruses that just expode. If your song's dynamic stucture is as good and hooky as Lithium then sure it will work. AC DC used a simple internal rhyme for Back in Black. My point is to make an real effort to use rhymes in choruses. Otherwise, the melody hook, combined with dynamics and emotion peaks, or even literary devices like alliteration, need to make up for it. For example, the chorus of Lithium has alliteration "like, crack, kill, crack. Damn, Cobain was good. Where do you think Dave Grohl learned all his tricks? Dave writes some good choruses too. Oh yeah, get to the chorus fast in the song. Don't make us wait 3 minutes.

:o)

LOL... I just wanted to thank you guys for making such an entertaining thread... :D

As for the lyrics... I agree with a couple things here... one... I would never post stand-alone lyrics either. Most great songs when read aloud by themselves sound pretty stupid. Also.. I totally agree with you that the lazy friend you described is THE cause of everything f**ked up in the world. And finally.. I kinda agree with that really belligerent person who said your lyrics are pretentious. I mean... since communication is the goal of music. (through moods or emotions or simple stories or what have you) it kind of defeats the purpose when you use terms that the average listener won't understand. And if you say "well they should understand them" then you've simply confirmed your pretentiousness. :p I don't blame you though... I did that too when I first started writing... (and no... I am not trying to imply in the least that I am any kind of expert on the subject) and then I finally realized that most of the great songs I've ever heard are simple and clear and concise and to the point... and that the best lyrics in the world are the ones that take what I'm feeling and convey it more succinctly than I ever could have myself.

Then again... you may just be one of those who likes to be all "ethereal" and "esoteric" and have people sit around sipping their triple-foam goat milk lattes and pontificate about how much of an acroamatic "genius" you are... in which case you might as well take up interpretive dance or something... :D

WATYF

(P.S. He's right.. that whole "christianity sucks" thing is old-hat) :D hehe

I hear music when I read instruction manuals!

Anyhow....These lyrics would fit very well with the Sanctuary and Nevermore cereberal metal..the Older Metallica kinda stuff.

And on a side note...musicians by nature are..."pretentious"!

Peace,
Dennis
