I just finished this mix but I feel like the vocals sound like garbage...can I fix it with compression?
It's on the bottom of this page...

Please give me some advice. I know I need to do alot of work, but I think the vocals sound the worst...

Thanks

Cool tune. I'd say yes to compression on the vocals. Guitar on the left sounded great. The right one mabye stuck out a bit. Not that I have a clue about this, but whats your equipment list and recording techniques? I'm sure someone else here can give you a better answer.

I used cakewalk pro 9 for software. For hardware I used an AMD K6-2 450, 196 MB RAM, SBLive, I have some effects plug-in for compression, reverb, EQ, and so on. I have a small fender mixer and an SM 57. I'm going to mix it again and see. . .

Maybe too much chorus or something on the vocals. You can probably improve 'em by EQ'ing out some of the nasaly mids, too (nasaly tone, not necessarily how you sang it). The biggest problem for me was that the bass was real muddy... next to no definition. It gives the feeling of a big hole in the mix. I think if you find a way to fix that you'll be surprised how much easier it is to mix everything else in.
