Ok. I am a Drummer, Guitarist and Bassist and am currently attempting to start doing recordings myself and to help out my mates with recordings. Plus its what I want to to as a job. I want to teach Drums, Teach Guitar, Teach bass, Record bands and mix.
But I need some help with the technology side of things to get me started. Basically here is my situation!!
I have bought a 2 input XLR / 1/4" Jack Audio Interface . M-Audio Profire 610.
I have a Super Dooper compooper! Dual Quadcore and Super Graphics cards (currently studying games design at uni)
I have a POD x3.
I have some PA speakers currently using them as my monitors! But I think this is causing me some problems with feedback and interference!
I have some cables might need some more !
Here is my short term plan!
I want to record using PODs to simulate Amps. (I know many people are apposed to this but being a musician I honest have to say that the PODs sound quality is amazing. Really realistic sounding Amps and effects.) I aim to have an Audio Interface with 8 inputs. and 3 Pods . Guitar 1, Guitar 2 and Bass. So thats 3 Pods for digital recording of instruments. I have an electronic drum kit with Midi and my current audio interface is linked up with some software so I can sample realistic drum sounds for drum recordings. Latency issues occasionally. I have 2 Yamaha PA speakers set up as my monitors however i think they are interfereing with my stuff because when I try using my POD x3 linked to my M-Audio Interface via S/PDIF I get a buzzing sounds. Yet when I use my POD in an amp I get no feedback or any buzzing. I also tried my POD with the 1/4" jack into my Audio Interface and I got buzzing and great latency!...
I Have the Audio Interface plugged in Via Firewire. AndI have altered my system settings to make the Audio Interface the main Audio Card so all my PC sound runs via the M-Audio Interface.
My speakers seem to buzz and creak when I do things with my PC such as scroll my mouse.
My Audio Interface also cuts out when playing World Of Warcraft and sometimes Itunes wont run sound with Cubase Running. Etc etc.. Certain problems and I just need some advice.
I want to have 3 Pods plugged into an Audio Interface into my PC and have them able to be recorded all at once.
I also want my V-drums to work with low latency! Lol Which is a must because playing drums with even a slight delay is a big problem!
I also want to know what I need to make this all work. What cables, plugs, extension leads, Monitors, Software. Anything that I need.
My budget is £1,500. Atleast for now.. So how can I make this work.
Please feel free to comment. I understand that a large number of guitarists and bassists might thing Pods are a bad Idea but its like Marmite. You either love it or ya hate it !
Same with V-drums. I am looking to make recordings easy after the hard work of setting up the hardware. Some each musician can plug in and play. No Problems. Record, Mix and be done.. I know this is alot to ask for but hey!
Thanks In advance!
