I need some editing tips in Audition

i wanted to know: whats the easiest way to edit only a PART of a track.

for instance, one song ive recorded has drums played with brushes for the first half and sticks for the second. i want these two parts to be EQ'ed and probably normalized differently (there are very noticeable differences in the dynamics).

i do know how to Snip tracks but in order for me to create a different sound do i have to cut and paste into a whole new track?

In Edit View, place the cursor at the beginning of the section you want to EQ one way, and drag it to the end of the section. That will highlight the section. Apply your EQ.

Then highlight the other section and apply the different EQ to it.
