i need info on N-tracks.

I want to know what the hoopla is about. I've visited the website and downloaded the demo, but I want to know if this program has something the others lack?
Can it record 8 tracks simultaneously?
How many FX can be used simultaneously?
Can it master/edit my music enough to burn a high quality CD?
If anyone has any suggestions that will persuade me to consider N-tracks over other software available (besides price), please post.
 
Its called bang for the buck....if you cant dig it, dont buy it.....
 
I can't seem to use it for more than 5 minutes without it crashing.I've tried both v2.3 and v3.0 beta2 and both times I've just ended up with screenfreezes.Is stability an issue with this app or is there any known hardware issues?

I love n-track, I have tried cakewalk pro audio 9 and didn't like it, but that is the only other program I have compared it to. Gidge is 100% correct, BY FAR BEST BANG FOR THE BUCK. If you want to do, it n-track can probably do it. I ran n-track on an amd k-6 and had some minor stability problems but since my upgrade to PIII no stability problems. Clint, if you give us more info we might be able to help you with your stabilty prob.
 
Clint, when I first got Ntrack I did the "kid test" on it. That is, I let my grandson and grand daughter record their halloween cd by doing various tracks of howling and moaning, laughing hystericaly with keyboards and screaming guitars in the mix. These yoyo's laid 13 tracks of this stuff with FX without the machine locking up.
So I'm wondering how you're computer is set up speed and memory wise. I'm runnin an AMD 1000 w/512 mb/7200 rpm drive/Darla24 and don't have anything but music software on it.
 
Thanks for the replies, let me see, system:nothing flash,PIII 600, 256 Ram,seagate barracuda 7200 rpm,Tascam US-428,running nothing but Audio apps. The main problems seem to occur when I try to use VSTis such as Pro52 or MDA piano.However, I've given up on trying to use N-Track and have upgraded to Cubase VST from the US-428 deal.

Hi guys....

Just to show you what you can do.... I'm recording with N-Track 2.3 (just moved up to the 24-bit version) and I have successfully run 30 tracks of audio. Most of my songs are running 10-16 tracks with CPU usage running 10-25%.

I'm using a PII-450Mhz Gateway with 384Mb of RAM, Win98SE, (2) 20Gb drives, a Midiman USB Midi interface and both a SoundBlaster Live! and Echo Mia audio cards running out to a Behringer mixer.

There is lots of information out there on how to optimize your system and lots of information on chipsets that do not perform well with audio. I've tried other audio apps but most of them are just too bloated to run well..... N-Track has been great for me so far.
